A Visit to Ponca
In May, I took a trip to Oklahoma to visit my grandparents. It was quite the week of traveling. I flew from Provo down to Mesa, AZ where my aunt picked me up, and from there we left immediately to head to good ol' OK! Before arriving at the G'rents, we were picking up my DAD from the airport in Oklahoma City. After a long trip filled with car sickness, long chats, thrown-away purses, lots of laughing, monsoons, flight delays, and plenty more, all 3 of us finally arrived in Ponca City where we were welcomed by this mighty fine sunset.
The visit was a little bittersweet, because the purpose was to visit my grandma who was recently diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer Disease. But it turned out to be a great trip spending time with family. Grandma was in good spirits and so happy to see us and have us there with her for awhile.
Although Gram's not looking at the camera, I like to think she is sending that adoring look my way :)
Having never been to sweet little Ponca City, OK before, Gramps wanted to show me the sights. Which is one of my favorite things. I love discovering new places. We drove all around town and it is the cutest place and has so much beauty and history to offer. My favorite was this mansion - The Marland Mansion.
It was so incredible! It belonged to E.W. Marland, who was huge in the oil industry. It was most famous for its 8 acres of lush gardens! Which unfortunately are no longer there. But I imagine it was a lovely sight to see.
Following the Ponca tour, Gramps took me to see the play The Young Frankenstein, which was so funny! And I even got a picture with the massive monster.
And I was told Braum's Ice Cream is a MUST in the midwest....and I never say no to ice cream.
I loved being able to laugh and make memories with my family. I love them so much and am so grateful to have them in my life! And we even got to reminisce on some old gems too ;)
